Job Description :
The Director, PoWeR Innovations, is responsible for managing a special department of 20 to 40 people, located at several sites, with the charter of developing opportuntites and concepts, generally through prototype phase, that leverage Pratt and Whitney Rocketdyne (PWR) intellectual property, technologies, processes, and skills to generate new and innovative products and services, particularly for new PWR markets. The Director provides oversight and control of the key processes for all phases of concept development including opportunity identification and development, market analysis, entry strategy, and the development and management of new and innovative programs to support these processes.

The Director will be responsible for creating a culture in this separate department that will stimulate and foster innovation. The Director will be responsible for establishing the practices, organization, teams and communication channels that support a culture in which innovation can grow, and where emerging technologies and concepts are matched to needs in the market.

The scope of the PoWeR Innovations department includes development of new and innovative programs for all areas of Pratt and Whitney Rocketdyne's business scope including but not limited to liquid rocket engines, propulsion subsystems and systems, energy systems, power conversion systems, and other future potential opportunities within the charter of PWR.

The Director will be responsible for formulating and subsequently managing the execution of projects and programs with responsibility for successfully meeting project and contractual requirements, achieving all the technical objectives, and performing within cost and schedule constraints.

The Director must develop and maintain a healthy working relationship with all customer counter parts. This effort will include frequent and effective communications to identify and promote business opportunities, to assure that developing technologies will enable applicable design solutions, and to assure effective management and execution of programs.

The Director will assure that all PWR's standards of Ethics and Business Conduct are adhered to or exceeded by all members of the department. The PoWeR Innovation Director will report to the Director of Future Programs.
Candidate Must Have :
  • BS degree with advanced technical and/or business degrees highly desirable. (Aerospace, Mechnical, Chemical, Systems Eng. or Advanced technical or Business Degree)
  • must have a strong background in project management and in the development of technically challenging programs.
  • Candidate should have experience in developing technologies and innovative concepts into viable products.
  • Candidate should also have demonstrated successful management of technical, cost, and schedule goals. Typically, a candidate should have 15 years of applicable experience.
